iPhone 17 Pro Review: Apple's Quietest, Most Confident Update in Years

No gimmicks, no AI shouting, no folding nonsense. Just a phone that does everything better and asks you to notice nothing.

iPhone 17 Pro Review: Apple's Quietest, Most Confident Update in Years

The iPhone 17 Pro does not want your attention. It wants your trust. After a fortnight of daily use, it has earned it.

The headline changes are small on paper. A new titanium chassis 8% lighter than the 16 Pro. A camera system that finally — finally — handles indoor low-light without that uncanny Apple smoothing. A battery that, in my testing, comfortably cleared eighteen hours of moderate-heavy use.

The 'Apple Intelligence' question

This is where opinions divide. Apple's on-device AI suite is, by competitor standards, restrained. It refuses to write your emails for you unless you ask three times. It will not generate fake photos of your friends. It summarises your notifications in plain English and gets out of the way.

For some, that restraint is the point. For others, it is a missed opportunity. Both views are defensible.
